How we helped SIXT grow top 3 rankings

by 129% in the US market for car rental searches

Driving an extra 280K monthly organic clicks for car rental brand, SIXT, in the US

The challenge

SIXT is a leading international provider of high quality car rentals across products including SIXT rent, SIXT share, SIXT ride and SIXT+.


For the U.S. market, SIXT wanted to grow organic visibility for key commercial categories across all states. We took a commercial & local strategy to building links and cluster content at scale, in order to increase SIXT’s organic visibility in the U.S. in both ranking improvements and brand awareness.


What we did

Audit and opportunity analysis

Our initial audit and strategy response was broken down by the following:

  • Build higher authority and visibility for commercial category “car rental” across all key states (airport and city locations)
  • Grow organic rankings for high priority keywords
  • Build relevancy


Growth domain authority and content quality:

  • Defined the target audience's preferences and needs, and tailored content to address the specific interests as well as optimising content whilst ensuring meta titles, meta descriptions, and headers incorporate target keywords and adhere to best SEO practices.
  • Pitched, developed and executed always-on digital PR campaigns, aswell as our one-of-a-kind Rise Live service (reactive trends led PR), optimised content for airport car rental pages and provided SEO consultancy.

The results


In 1 year, we scaled SIXT’s new linking domains by 2000 of which 420+ were from high authority media (new domains). Our work was featured in 5 TV segments, and talked about in NBC, USA today, Yahoo, MSN to name a few. This was from a variety of campaigns as well as offering SIXT’s commentary on various travel and pop culture trends over the course of 1 calendar year.

Organic rankings, in top 3 positions, increased by 129% which drove a 92% increase in traffic. This equated to an extra 280K monthly visits across all car rental destination pages.
