A full service SEO experience - 174% increase in new customers, a number of pos 1 local rankings and pos 2 for KITCHENS term
The Challenge
Rise at Seven was selected as the full service SEO agency behind both Magnet Kitchens and Magnet Trade after a decline in rankings and traffic.
The trade side of the business serviced small businesses, kitchen fitters and b2b customers but also worked closely with Magnet Kitchens to drive leads to trade.
The number 1 goal for the group was increasing rankings for Kitchen terms but for Magnet Trade - it had a whole other challenge.
Magnet Trade challenged us to increase their visibility for doors, flooring, kitchen terms, location terms (showrooms), worktops, samples and more. The majority of their content for traders sat behind log in walls and needed a better experience to drive rankings and visibility. Not only that but he previous product information management (PIM) system was limiting effective product management, prompting the need for a CMS migration.
Alongside this, we were facing multiple technical SEO challenges, including duplicated product pages, incorrect canonicalisation and page speed issues.
The challenge was to resolve all of these simultaneously while migrating to a new CMS during a peak trading period, without disrupting performance or revenue.
A site migration, building the technical foundations, an overhaul of content experience and building site authority
What We Did
We delivered a fully controlled Trade site migration during peak trading, resolving duplicate content and canonical issues, improving crawl efficiency, and identifying Core Web Vitals and site speed improvements. Alongside this, we rebuilt key category and local page content across eight priority areas, before scaling offsite authority through strategic and reactive digital PR to strengthen rankings and domain authority.
The detail:
Site migration summary
To support improvements to the product platform, we led a fully controlled migration of the Trade site, designed to protect performance during a peak trading period while resolving long-standing technical issues. This included a comprehensive pre- and post-migration SEO plan, underpinned by benchmarking, testing and ongoing monitoring.
What we delivered:
- A 68-step pre-migration plan covering platform discovery, URL redirects, content migration, navigation structure and SEO element improvements
- Full benchmark reporting to measure impact across rankings, traffic and conversions
- Extensive UAT testing to identify and resolve issues before launch
- A structured launch-day checklist and a two-week post-launch monitoring programme to minimise risk and protect organic performance
Technical & site speed improvements:
- Consolidated products under single URLs, resolving duplicate content and canonicalisation issues
- Addressed pagination handling to improve crawl efficiency
- Identified and prioritised Core Web Vitals and site speed issues, now in progress with the Magnet development team
- Ongoing indexing, crawling and Search Console fixes post-launch
Post-migration support:
- 25-step post-migration plan, including redirect testing and weekly site health checks
- Migration reporting and competitor landscape analysis to validate success and identify further opportunities
Overall takeaway:
The migration was executed with minimal disruption to SEO performance, while laying the technical foundations for improved crawlability, page speed and scalable product management moving forward.
Onsite content experience:
Second to that we rebuilt both local and key category page content across all destinations and product pages - this involved 8 key categories including doors, kitchen joinery, trade kitchens, flooring, sinks and trade kitchen + location related terms.
