Over the last seven years, we’ve gathered 236+ case studies across 21 industries, for brands big, small, weird, wonderful, and wildly ambitious.

From helping Ninja get to category leader for air fryers to launching sex toys in Kinder Eggs (yes, really), we’ve been on a mission to make brands more visible, clickable, and outrageously newsworthy.

But we didn’t just want to do the work. We wanted to learn from it.

So we crunched the numbers.

Here’s what we discovered about what actually moves the needle when it comes to digital PR, content marketing and search performance.

The Big Stats (from 236 Rise at Seven case studies):

What is the top performing industry?

At Rise at Seven we genuinely have experience of working across nearly every industry. From Ecommerce, b2b, finance, health, tech and even in the sex space. Based on all the campaigns, here’s where the biggest wins came from:

Gaming is a powerhouse for instant attention - averaging 128 links per campaign and massive social reach. We was the agency helping Game, Playstation and Xbox drive discoverability.

Game christmas tinner

B2B (yes, really) actually crushes in rankings. Our B2B case studies saw 138% average uplift in top rankings. Our work in the B2B space is probably some of our most popular. In a place where emotional decision-making is higher, we do well at connecting consumers and brands through audience-first content. Our campaigns have been some of our most famous.

Dojo

Ecommerce had the most consistent conversion-driving campaigns - especially when paired with creator-led or reactive PR moments. We do a lot of work in ecomm and retail and driving seo rankings and traffic isn't the only metric we care about, but how do we get our customers to buy. What media is the highest converting and how do we reach customers ready to buy.

Sole supplier

Automotive saw the highest link volume,  driven by SIXT's mega content strategy and GoCompare’s data-led domination. In a world where AI is taking over top-of-funnel discovery, the real battleground for brands is now commercial search.

🧱 Industry Link Quality Highlights

  • Hardest industry to get followed links: Pet - just 68% followed links. This is often driven by high affiliate schemes and limited publications to go to. However, even within this space, we have shown incredible results compared to the industry standard.

  • Easiest to earn followed links: Finance, a strong 80% followed. Finance stories have the ability to go wider to different types of media, which increases likelihood of a followed link

  • Highest DA on average: Finance again (DA 80), followed by B2B (DA 77), 🖥 Tech (DA 76)

  • Most traffic driven by campaigns (avg): Finance with 44,000 avg visits, followed by 💼 B2B and 🖥 Tech?

These figures are based on a wide sample of cases, giving us confidence in which industries respond best to different types of strategy.
