Tracking real time health questions to drive PR coverage and app downloads
The challenge
Flo is the most popular women’s health app globally and is #1 OB-GYN-recommended app for period and cycle tracking based on a survey among US OB-GYNs. With over 100+ medical experts, Flo supports women during their entire reproductive lives and provides curated cycle and ovulation tracking, personalized health insights, expert tips and a fully closed community for women to share their questions and concerns.
Flo wanted to build links and generate media coverage in the U.S. that would build up their authority and online presence. We targeted "period tracker", "due date calculator" and "getting pregnant" keyword rankings in order to drive visibility and traffic

Our strategy was to educate potential customers, drive trust and build consumer confidence
What we did
Our strategy was to educate potential customers, drive trust and build consumer confidence, which in turn will drive app downloads. To do this, we pitched relevant, timely stories in national, lifestyle and health news outlets.
Using Rise Live (our Reactive Product PR service), we news-jacked trending pop culture moments to create relevant workouts with supporting commentary from Flo women’s health experts to gain links in target media outlets.

We earned links from top-tier media publication
The results
In 3 months, we earned 40 links from top-tier media publications including Cosmopolitan, HuffPost, LifeHacker, Prevention, USA Today, Yahoo! and more. From our PR efforts we saw homepage rankings rise from #6 to #2 for priority keywords including period tracker and improved non brand keyword rankings too.
We drove an extra 2.6K monthly visits to the due date calculator and an extra 7K to the homepage monthly.
